Cryptic Story
When I was little, I used to go to my neighbor's house to get my ears cleaned. The person living there was a woman who lived there all alone.
"I'll clean your ears, please come here." that's how she used to call me.
I would go to her, put my head and body in her lap, and then she would clean my ears. While cleaning she would say "Don't move."
To say clearly, I think she did a better work than my mother.
So nostalgic~

“Many Japanese grew up having their ears cleaned by their mothers, and associate it with pleasant feelings of maternal closeness.”
Was his mother dead or?
Even i don't have any idea. The Japanese site had the explanation that the woman was dead or something.
Deleteactually, that woman was the author's blood related mother, while his "mother" was actually just a step-mother.

DeleteThat's a nice explanation. I like it better than the official explanation.
Ah I myself think that the narrator is a cat. Probably, this cat's owner did not care as much as the neighbor did. Or as we all know, cat's mother usually let her kittens wander alone and not taking care of her own kids. So that is why our narrator consider this woman as it's mother.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting and out-of-the box theory. Nice!
